Mrs. Perkins (P.E.)

Hello My Name Is...

Rachel Perkins

boating

I love teaching PE. Sometimes I have to stop and soak it in that I actually get paid to do this. It is such a pleasure to guide children as they grow and develop new skills and abilities. I strive to make learning fun and meaningful for all students. My goal is to ensure that all Iron Horse students leave elementary school with a lifelong love for physical activity and a desire to continue growing in their knowledge of health, fitness and personal wellbeing.

My Background: I grew up in Indiana. I completed my undergraduate degrees with a double major in Exercise Science and French. I went on to teach English for one year in France. When I returned to the states I went back to school for a masters degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Indiana University. After completion of my masters program I moved to Denver to work at National Jewish proctoring cardiac and pulmonary diagnostic testing. This was my career for 8 years before I decided to return to school once again to obtain my teaching license.

About me: I now live in Parker with my wonderful husband, two adorable sons and one sweet and very energetic dog. We love to spend our weekends camping and being out side. Some of the things I enjoy include spending time with my neighbors, water sports, snow sports, martial arts, dance and gardening.

I'm looking forward to another great year with all of the wonderful students and staff at IHE!
